Within the last decade however, Karen discovered another passion; a love for painting and drawing. Under the guidance of her mentor, Peter Kraus, founder of Anyone Can...Arts, Karen developed her skills and now specializes in pastels and oils.
Exhibiting a rare ability few artists possess, Karen’s strokes are fluid, yet bold, depicting both sublime and intense emotions within the same piece. “I let my moods and my intuition guide me,” Karen says, then the colors and the images appear.
Indeed! Her dynamic works are in private collections across the country, and although recognized for her exceptional accuracy in portraiture, (probably due to her early training requiring absolute precision), Karen still loves to capture the spirit of wildlife, as well as the beauty in the ever changing landscape.
Active member of the Santa Clarita Artists’ Association, and Allied Artist of the Santa Monica Mountains and Seashore, Inc. Karen enjoys painting plein aire (on location) by the ocean shore, hiking in the Sierras, and engaging in her other love, photography.
